The room we have done the most
We have finished more than 100 kitchens. A full remodel touches nearly every trade in the house, and each one waiting on the last is where most kitchen projects fall apart. We sequence the whole job before demo day so that does not happen.
Cabinets, counters, tile, floors, plumbing, electrical, drywall and paint all run under one schedule and one point of contact. You get told which week the cabinets land and which days the sink and stove are down.
If your boxes are solid and the layout works, we will say so and reface instead of replacing. We would rather do the smaller job right than sell you a kitchen you did not need.

Bathroom remodeling
Waterproofed before it is pretty
A bathroom is a small room where everything is either wet or next to something wet. What goes on behind the tile matters more than the tile, and that is where a rushed bath job shows up two years later.
We take baths down to the studs when they need it, deal with whatever the last person hid in the wall, and build the shower back up properly before any finish goes on.
Full baths, half baths and powder rooms. Tubs, walk-in showers, vanities, tile and the plumbing and electrical that comes with moving any of it.

Interior and exterior painting
The prep is the job
Painting is the trade in our name, and the part people underrate is everything that happens before the first coat. Filling, sanding, caulking and priming is what makes a wall look flat and a line look sharp. On a house built before 1978 that prep is also regulated work, and Joe is an EPA Certified Renovator for it.
Inside, that means covering floors and furniture, cutting clean lines at the ceiling and trim, and leaving the room usable at the end of the day.
Outside, it means scraping and priming bare spots, dealing with failed caulk and rotted trim before it gets painted over, and picking a day the weather will cooperate.

Basement finishing
The cheapest square footage you will ever add
A basement is already built. It has walls, a floor and a ceiling, which is why finishing one costs a fraction of what an addition costs for the same amount of room. If you need space and you have a dry basement, this is where to start.
We frame and insulate, run the electric, hang and finish the drywall, and put down the flooring and trim. Drop ceiling or drywall ceiling, whichever the height and the pipes allow.
The part that matters before any of it is water. If the basement takes on water we deal with that first, because finishing over a moisture problem buries it where you cannot see it until the drywall goes soft.

Aging in place
Staying in the house you already own
Most people would rather modify the house than leave it. The changes that make that possible are usually not dramatic: a step-in shower instead of a tub, a wider doorway, better lighting, a ground floor bedroom or bathroom where there was not one.
We do this work with the same trades we use everywhere else. Framing to widen an opening, a bathroom rebuilt with a curbless shower and blocking in the walls for grab bars, flooring with no lip at the transitions, and the electrical for lighting that actually helps.
Blocking is the detail people miss. Putting solid backing in the wall while it is open costs almost nothing and means a grab bar can go in properly later, instead of into drywall anchors that will not hold.

Flooring
Check the subfloor first
Hardwood, luxury vinyl plank, tile and carpet all behave differently, and all of them need something solid underneath. Old houses hide soft spots and two or three layers of previous flooring, and putting new floor over that is a callback waiting to happen.
We pull up what is there, look at what we find, and fix the subfloor before anything new goes down.
We also handle the transitions between rooms so the height change at a doorway is not something you catch your foot on.

Framing, insulation and drywall
The part nobody sees
Framing, insulation, drywall and spackle are the bones of any renovation. Get them right and everything after goes on straight. Get them wrong and you spend the rest of the job fighting it.
We frame new walls and openings, check whether what is coming out is load-bearing before it comes out, and size and install the beam if it is.
Drywall gets hung, taped, spackled and sanded flat. We sand for a finish, not just to knock the ridges off, because paint hides nothing on a ceiling in daylight.

Doors and windows
Square, level, and sealed
A door that sticks or a window that whistles is almost never the door or the window. It is the opening it was put into. We check the opening, shim it properly, and hang the unit square.
Replacements, new openings and full trim-outs. Interior doors, exterior doors, sliders and windows.
Everything gets flashed, insulated and sealed on the outside, because a window that leaks air is going to leak water eventually.

Roofing and siding
Keeping the weather outside
The roof and the siding are the two things standing between your house and the weather. When either one goes, you find out about it on the inside, usually at the worst possible time.
We tear off and replace roofs rather than layering over a failing one, and we look at the decking once the old shingles are off. Soft decking gets replaced before the new roof goes on.
Siding work includes the trim, the flashing and the details around windows and corners, which is where most siding jobs actually fail.

Plumbing, electrical and HVAC
The mechanical work a renovation needs
Moving a sink, adding a bathroom, opening a wall or finishing a basement all mean the plumbing, electrical and heating move with it. We handle that work as part of the project rather than leaving you to line it up yourself.
A modern kitchen or bath also pulls more power than the wiring in an older Valley home was built for. Dedicated circuits, GFCI protection and enough capacity are part of doing the job to code.
Where the work needs a permit and a township inspection, it gets one.
